Enzo Barrenechea, called up by Argentina National Team
Valencia CF player called up to play the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.
The win against Real Madrid last weekend involved outstanding performances from all involved, and Uros Racic was singled out by his teammates for an immense job done in the midfield. He spoke to VCF Media this week to reflect on the victory, and look ahead to the coming weeks.
“I think that everybody understands this moment. What more can I say about the game the other day, in which we beat a great team in a great game?” he said.
“Now we have more confidence going forward, and we have shown that we can continue in the same way. We played well against Real Madrid, who for me are one of the top five teams in the world. They have a lot of quality, and we showed that we can play against them. I think that we can play that way against all of our upcoming opponents.”
It was a victory that shows the methods used by the team are paying off, and Racic believes that it is something they can keep up during the LaLiga season.
“I can say that we are working very hard. We prepare very hard for games. I think that we've done what the coach felt we've had to do. This is a path that, if we continue this way, can get us more good results.
“This is the path to follow. I think that all of us have to think like this. On the pitch, it doesn't matter how old you are. You're here to help as much as you can.”
On a personal level, the Serbian midfielder is pleased to have carved a niche for himself at Valencia CF, and is attempting to make sure that his knee allows him to continue to do so.
“I'm very happy and have the confidence of the coach and everybody at the club. I want to thank them for that. I feel much better now than the first time I was here, because I'm more confident. Last year I needed more minutes. Because I got that, here I am. If I hadn't played, it would be more difficult.
“I had a problem with my knee before. It was two or three days before the game. But I said before that I want to play, and that I didn't care about what happened afterwards.”
